Scale and Polish

Teeth scaling and polishing is a dental procedure that involves removing tartar or plaque buildup and polishing the teeth to get rid of stains. Tartar or plaque build-up can lead to gum disease or tooth decay, and the scaling and polishing procedure is used to prevent these dental issues. The process involves using special tools to scrape the tartar off the teeth and to smooth out the rough spots on the tooth surface. After scaling, the teeth are polished to remove any remaining stains. The polishing process involves using a small rotating brush and a special toothpaste that helps to brighten the teeth.
Scaling and polishing can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the extent of the buildup and the number of teeth that need to be cleaned. The procedure is usually painless, but some patients may experience minor discomfort and sensitivity during the process. After the procedure, patients may be advised to avoid certain foods and drinks, such as coffee, tea, and red wine, for a short period of time to prevent staining.

Dental Fillings

Dental fillings are used to restore decayed or damaged teeth. They can also be used to fill in gaps, repair chipped teeth, orto address other types of damage or structural issues in the teeth. There are different types of dental fillings, including amalgam (silver), composite (tooth-colored), ceramic, and gold. The process of getting a filling involves removing the decay oraddress other issues such as tooth wear or discoloration. The process involves removing the decayed or damaged portion of the tooth and filling the space with a material such as composite resin, amalgam, or ceramic. The choice of material will depend on factors such as the extent of the damage, location of the tooth, and personal preference. Dental fillings are a common dental procedure and are typically done under local anesthesia to ensure patient comfort. Regular dental checkups and good oral hygiene practices are key in maintaining the longevity of dental fillings.

Crowns, Veneers and Bridges

Crowns are a type of dental restoration that completely covers a tooth to protect and strengthen it. They can be made from a variety of materials, including zirconia, ceramic, metal, or a combination of these. Crowns are used in cases where a tooth has significant decay or damage, or after a root canal.
Veneers are another type of dental restoration that are used to improve the appearance of teeth. They are thin, custom-made shells that are bonded to the front surface of the teeth, typically made of porcelain or composite resin. Veneers can help improve the shape, color, and overall appearance of teeth.
Bridges are dental restorations used to replace one or more missing teeth. The bridge consists of one or more artificial teeth attached to crowns which are placed over the remaining natural teeth on either end of the gap. Bridges can be made from a variety of materials including zirconia, porcelain, ceramic, metal or a combination of materials. They are fixed into place and cannot be removed by the patient.
All artificial restorations have a life span of 6-14 years.

Root Canal Treatments

Root canal treatment is a procedure used to save a damaged or infected tooth. This treatment is required when the pulp (soft tissue containing nerves and blood vessels inside the tooth) becomes injured or infected due to deep decay, a cracked tooth, or trauma. If left untreated, the infected pulp can cause a painful abscess or lead to the loss of the tooth.
During a root canal procedure, the dentist will numb the area around the tooth and use specialized tools to remove the infected or damaged pulp. The root canal system will then be cleaned and shaped, and medication may be placed inside the tooth to prevent further infection.
Once the tooth has been cleared of infection and the canal has been thoroughly cleaned, it will be sealed with a filling material. In some cases, a crown may be placed over the tooth to protect it and restore its function.
After the root canal treatment, the patient may experience some discomfort or sensitivity for a few days, but this can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers. Patients should also maintain good oral hygiene practices and attend regular check-ups with their dentist to ensure the tooth is healing correctly.

Dentures

Dentures are artificial replacements for missing teeth and are designed to be removed from the mouth when not in use. They may be partial or complete, depending on the number of teeth that need to be replaced. .
Dentures can be made from various materials depending on the number of missing teeth and the patient's individual needs. Partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain, while complete dentures are used when all natural teeth have been lost. Dentures are typically made of acrylic resin and may include metal components for support. They are custom-made for each patient and require several appointments to ensure a perfect fit. Proper care and maintenance of dentures are necessary for their longevity and to prevent oral health problems such as gum disease. Regular dental check-ups are also important to ensure that the dentures fit properly and to address any issues that may arise.

Orthodontics
(fixed braces)

Fixed braces are a type of orthodontic treatment that involves attaching brackets and wires to the teeth to gradually shift them into their proper position over time. Fixed braces consist of small brackets that are attached to the front surface of each tooth with special dental adhesive. The brackets are connected by a wire that runs through them, which is held in place with small elastic bands or ties. The wire is adjusted periodically to apply gentle pressure to the teeth to gradually shift them into the correct position.
Fixed braces can be used to treat a wide range of orthodontic issues such as crooked teeth, gaps between teeth, overcrowding, overbite, underbite, and other misalignments.
The treatment time for fixed braces varies from person to person and depends on the severity of the issue being treated. Typically, treatment can take anywhere from 6 months to 3 years to complete.
Fixed braces require regular dental appointments to adjust the wires and monitor progress. It is also important to maintain good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing regularly and avoiding hard and sticky foods that can damage the braces.
While fixed braces may not be the most aesthetically pleasing option, they are cost-effective and have been proven to provide effective orthodontic treatment for many people.
