Why am I experiencing pain after a root canal?

Pain after a root canal treatment is normal and it can last for a few days. You may experience sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures, mild discomfortwhile chewing or pressure is applied to the affected area. However, if the pain is severe and doesn't go away after a few days, it may indicate a problem and you should contact your dentist immediately. To manage the pain, you can take over-the-counter pain medications like ibuprofen or acetaminophen as directed by your dentist or pharmacist. Avoid chewing or biting down on the affected tooth until the pain subsides. Apply a cold compress to the affected area for 20 minutes at a time to help reduce any swelling or inflammation. It is also important to follow your dentist's instructions regarding post-treatment care. They may recommend avoiding certain foods, practicing good oral hygiene, or using a prescribed mouthwash. Keeping up with these instructions can help ensure a successful and comfortable recovery.
